When you sign in to VolunteerSpot, the hours available for each position are noted within the VolunteerSpot app. Examples: Team Leaders are a two-day commitment. Speaker Assistants work from 9am to 4:00pm on Thursday only. Check In volunteers work a half day on Thursday morning only. “Assist As Needed” volunteers can work a half day or full day on Thursday or Friday. Escorts can work a half day or full day on Thursday or Friday.

There are limited beds available for Team Leaders who do not live in Central Arkansas for Thursday evening, March 10th. For volunteers who need to stay on Wednesday evening, March 9th, beds are available at a cost of $23.00 per person. You must make a room reservation by February 24th with the volunteer coordinators, Mojgan Watson or Maria Jones. Team leaders spending the night at the 4H Center will ride on the buses with the girls Friday morning, which leave the 4H Center at 8:30. Arrangements will be made to return the Team Leaders to their cars at the 4H Center.
Yes, registered volunteers who are on duty are welcome to eat with the girls. Please alert the Volunteer Coordinators,Mojgan Watson or Maria Jones if you have dietary restrictions. We will work with you as much as the facilities will allow.
Yes. Team Leaders are responsible for a designated group of girls and serve as mentors during the event. They are expected to arrive by 9am on March 10th and by 8:30 am on March 11th.

Your VolunteerSpot registration will give you the time you need to be available for your position. We recommend you arrive 15 minutes early in order to check in and be ready to work. Team leaders spending the night at the 4H Center will ride on the buses with the girls, which leave the 4H Center at 8:30.
Be sure to bring your signed waiver form or email a scanned, signed copy to the Volunteer Coordinators Mojgan Watson or Maria Jones before March 9th. It will be required as part of volunteer check-in. On Thursday there will be a registration desk for volunteers to check in at the 4H Center. Look for the “Volunteer Check In” signs in the lobby of the 4H Center. On Friday, registered volunteers will be pre-assigned a designated location in the River Market area for their station and will check in with a Volunteer Coordinator at the designated location on Friday morning.
There are two different volunteer orientations scheduled, one for Team Leaders – March 3rd and one for all other volunteers – February 25th. They will be held at 5:30pm in the office of the Women’s’ Foundation of Arkansas, 200 River Market Avenue, Suite 100, Little Rock. Those attending also may be asked to assist with stuffing bags that will be distributed to the girls. Volunteers who live out of town will be provided conference call information.
The trainings are designed to prepare you for your assigned role so that you can provide effective and efficient volunteer support for this important experience in the life of 150 Arkansas eighth-grade girls. Volunteers who miss the trainings will need to contact one of the Volunteer Coordinators, Mojgan Watson or Maria Jones, to make arrangements to receive pre-event orientation. Volunteers need to be able to walk distances and stand during their shift. Thursday Check In volunteers will have the least amount of walking, the fewest mobility obstacles, and will sit at the registration table for their shift. Team Leaders and Friday volunteers will get lots of exercise, including standing, walking throughout the River Market, and dealing with whatever weather conditions are in place that day.

There is ample parking at the 4H Center on Thursday. On Friday, volunteers will have to find parking in the River Market area. Suggested sites will be provided to the registered volunteers. Be aware that much of the parking in the River Market area is not free.
Note: Team Leaders will begin at the 4H Center and ride with the girls on buses to the River Market on Friday. Arrangements will be made to return the Team Leaders back to their vehicles at the end of the event Friday afternoon.
We will need ample notice, but do understand that unforeseen circumstances may occur. As soon as you are aware that you cannot volunteer, please email the volunteer coordinators, Mojgan Watson or Maria Jones. You also need to go to your email from VolunteerSpot mail@volunteerspot.com and click on the link “View/Change my commitments” to remove yourself from the volunteer management system.
Volunteers will be given T-shirts to wear at the event. Wear comfortable shoes and business casual slacks. If you are volunteering on Friday, be sure to dress appropriately for being outside in the weather for extended walks.
On Thursday, a special Volunteer Room in the 4H Center will be available. On Friday, you will have to keep your personal belongings with you.
